Accessibility statement
Updated : September 5, 2026
Cadanse has to stay usable by everyone, including people who navigate with a keyboard, a magnifier or a screen reader. This page states the standard we aim for, what has been verified, what has not been yet, and how to reach us.
The standard we aim for, and what it covers
Cadanse aims for the Québec government's Web accessibility standard (SGQRI 008 3.0). It adopts the level A and AA success criteria of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, except live captions (1.2.4) and prerecorded audio description (1.2.5).
It adds seven WCAG 2.2 criteria — consistent help, redundant entry, focus not obscured, dragging movements, target size, accessible authentication and focus appearance — and four level AAA criteria: three flashes, abbreviations, concurrent input mechanisms and focus appearance. A fifth AAA criterion, sign language, applies only to prerecorded audio, which Cadanse does not publish.

What is covered
- The cadanse.app site and its public pages.
- Each studio's public pages: storefront, registration, ticketing, shop.
- The family portal.
- The studio staff dashboard.
- The attendance check-in screen.
What is not
- Widgets designed to be embedded in a studio's own site: the accessibility of the hosting page belongs to the studio.
- Documents uploaded by studios — a schedule or a form dropped in as a PDF is published as is.
- Stripe and Square payment pages, served by those providers and not by us.
How it is verified
Verification is internal and continuous: it is part of the integration pipeline, and a regression stops a release.
An automated tool only detects part of the failures; this statement describes an internal verification, not an external audit.
- An automated sweep over nineteen representative surfaces — every shell, every role — on every change. Any violation rated “critical” or “serious” fails the pipeline.
- A keyboard-only walkthrough, never touching the mouse, across registration, cart, ticketing and check-in: skip link, tab order, dialogs that do not trap focus, touch target size.
- Colour contrast, verified at the source in both the light and the dark theme, before a page is even rendered.
- Two code rules that reject, at automated review, any icon-only control without an accessible name and any removal of the focus ring without a replacement indicator.
- A manual screen-reader pass, whose status is described below.
Assistive technologies
The reference configurations are NVDA with Firefox on Windows 11, and VoiceOver with Safari on iOS. The versions used are the latest stable ones at the time of each verification; they are recorded along with the date of the pass and the journeys followed.
The automated sweep runs on Chromium. The service is designed for current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.
Controls that show only an icon
A good share of Cadanse's controls show only an icon: delete, print, collapse a section. The rule has no exception — a control that shows only an icon carries an accessible name, read out by screen readers even when nothing is written on screen.
This is not merely an editorial guideline: an automated check rejects any new control that departs from it, including the case where the label exists but disappears on a small screen.
Known shortcomings
The points below are known and owned as of the date of this statement. Leaving them out would be more comfortable, and far less useful.
- The manual screen-reader pass has not happened yet.
- The automated sweep and the keyboard walkthrough are in place and run on every change; the human verification with NVDA and VoiceOver is still to be done. Its results — versions, journeys followed, what was announced correctly and what was not — will be published here.
- The venue map editor is set by dragging.
- In the tool that places the seats of a performance venue, a seat's size and rotation are set through fields, but its position is set only by dragging it. That does not meet WCAG 2.2 criterion 2.5.7. This screen is reserved for studio staff: no family needs to go through it to register or to pay.
- Documents uploaded by studios are not checked.
- A schedule or a form dropped in as a PDF by a studio is published as is. Cadanse does not produce it and cannot guarantee its accessibility. We encourage studios to also offer the information as text in the page.
If something blocks you
You do not have to work around it alone: we will carry out the operation with you, then fix what needs fixing.
By phone at 819 414-8008, during business hours. By email at bonjour@cadanse.app. Or through the contact form.
Nothing has to be done online: a studio's staff can register a family, take a payment and hand over a receipt at the counter.
Report a barrier
If you run into a barrier, tell us. Reports come in through the same doors as help — phone, email, form — and there is no separate address to remember.
We acknowledge receipt within ten business days and tell you what we intend to do, with a timeline whenever we can give one.
